Kyoto is the famous historical and spiritual city of Japan. Its narrow alleyways and majestic hilltop temples create a magical atmosphere that attracts tourists from all over.

I visited here back in autumn 2013 along with other Japanese cities, was surprised by the city’s unique and ultra-modern train station with lighted staircases, and also visited the old town and some temples on the mountain. The old town streets are lined with colorful lanterns, traditional eateries and geisha houses. The temples are a real spectacle, seeing people in their traditional outfits and all the religious precessions going on. There are hiking trails leading up to the temples with panoramic views of the city below.
