I visited this lovely capital of Lithuania in the summer of 2015, and was stunned by its mix of ultra-modern and historic, a scenic riverside and mountaintop fortress. The country has come a long way in upgrading its infrastructure and lifestyle since joining the EU, all while maintaining its low cost of living and price level.

Arriving into the city near sunset time, doing a quick drive-around

Touring the modern business districts and admiring the new architecture

Visiting the famous Cathedral square and bell tower

Going up to the hilltop castle complex overlooking the city, getting some amazing views of the downtown area and riverbanks from there

Walking around some of central shopping and dining districts in town

Exploring the riverside parks where lots of people were out to enjoy the rare sunlight

Driving through some other areas with some malls and gov’t buildings

Some evening views of the city from the rooftop lounge at the Radisson hotel

The cute little airport of Vilnius (at least as it was in 2015)!
