New Orleans

This city, called “NOLA” for short, is one of the most popular culinary & entertainment hubs in the Southern US. It’s become world-famous for its Cajun food and huge annual celebration of Mardi Gras (“Fat Tuesday”) in the historic French Quarter. It’s also home to some top universities and business hubs. Given its location, this area always faces a risk of torrential rains or hurricane flooding.

My latest visit here was in March 2023, during the Irish-spirited festivities of St. Patrick’s Day, so the city was partying hard as usual despite some heavy rains! Let’s start with some pictures of the rainy downtown area:

Next are some other parts of the city, including historic university buildings etc.

Here’s the famous entertainment district, with lively parties day & night!
