Marseille

This is a nice coastal city in the south of France, straddling the Mediterranean sea. This area and the whole French Riviera is known for historic fortresses, rugged mountains and boat-filled marinas. Marseille in particular has its own character of history and culture, a bit different from other French coastal towns.

I visited here in late summer of 2024, as part of a wider tour around Southern France. Was charmed by its vibrant blue waters and nice seafood cuisine.

Here are some views from the central square area, where there’s a huge boat marina and also a reflective ceiling mirror that provides a fun way to take pictures! Quite recommended to hang out here around sunset time 🙂

Next are the beautiful beaches, shown by day and evening, littered with street cafes and rock croppings that people sit on!

I also visited a district famous for large historic cathedrals and also modern museums amid the sea – a mix of archtectural marvels!

Lastly just showing a bit of Marseille’s “dark side” (I’m sure most cities have them) with narrow alleyways rife with graffiti and moody urban art 🙂
