Interlaken lies at the intersection of two scenic lake (hence the name), and is home to Switzerland’s best touristic offerings. Here you will find tons of outdoor and aerial activities, as well as a cable-car climb to the country’s highest peak, Jungfraujoch (made famous in a James Bond movie). As you’ll see in the photos below, there is no shortage of magical views here with cloud floating by near the ground and waterfalls simply spilling off of high cliffs. I recommend any outdoor-lover to spend a good few days here, getting a fix of fun adventure activities and a fill of stunning scenery.
As Switzerland is one of my favorite countries, I have visited this area several times from 1985-2008, though these photos are from my most recent visit only. I’ve included photos from towns neighboring Interlaken itself such as Bern (the capital), Murren (atop a mountain and not accessible by cars), Thun & Brienz (across the two lakes).
