Baku is a hidden gem in the Caucasus region, newly discovered by tourists since the Azerbaijan government eased up visa regulations. Like many cities in the region it has a historic old center area surrounded by a modernizing metropolis. Ah and also the airport is quite unique!
When I visited in the fall of 2016, currency devaluation had made this destination very cheap and attractive for foreign visitors.
Scenes from around the old town area and city squares

Touring the cities historic and public areas by night, using the art filter to bring out the color of these lighted buildings!

From the city’s luxury hotel district and watrefront area in the glow of sunset

Strolling through the old town narrow roads, markets & bazaars

Finally at Baku’s amazing airport – a marvel of modern design
