Abidjan is a pleasant oceanside city surrounded by many lush islands and hills, a popular part of French-speaking West Africa. The area is also home to many Lebanese and European immigrants.I came to Abidjan on a brief work visit in November 2012.
The central district was quite calm and felt fairly safe. There are very few upper-class hotels and prices are quite reasonable. I would recommend this city along with nearby Accra for travelers as a gateway to the West African region.
