I’ve visited this beautiful yet troubled city several times between 2001-2016, for both business and pleasure. It has grown and improved a lot over the years, but also gotten more congested.
Overall though, dispute it political misfortunes, this is quite a wonderful place. From the incredible natural scenery all around, the great weather, mountains & grottoes, and truly amazing local food and entertainment, Lebanon would surely fascinate anyone. The people here are also very friendly and cultured. The only major drawbacks are elevated prices, heavy traffic, and general safety issues in times of regional unrest.
On my most recent visit, I saw the new Solidere district downtown, modern waterfront cafes at Zaituna Bay, and winter sea waves crashing upon the shoreline. Here are some views from the city by day, showing some amazing buildings and boat marinas downtown:
